Accessibility Statement
29 May 2026
This statement describes the current state of accessibility in Lexonomy.org.
Conformance
Lexonomy is partially conformant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means most of the application meets the standard, but some parts do not yet. Automated testing currently reports no errors on the main public views.
Keyboard Support
The core public flows can be completed without a mouse:
- Moving between the Game, Build, and Lookup views, and opening Help, using Tab and Enter or Space.
- Playing every game — all answer choices and controls are standard buttons reachable by Tab and activated by Enter or Space.
- Looking up a word, including navigating the suggestion list with the arrow keys and selecting with Enter.
- Contributing a word pair by selecting from the broader and narrower word lists with the keyboard.
Known Limitations
- Curator tooling. Some controls in the Curate page and editing interfaces are not yet fully keyboard-operable.
- Document structure. The application does not have headings and page landmarks in the way a content-centric website would, which can make screen-reader orientation less efficient.
- Text size. Some secondary labels use small text below the size we would prefer.
- Screen-reader testing. The application has not yet been tested across the full range of screen readers and browser combinations.
